Sunrise over Lake Tekapo, South Island New Zealand.

30sec exposure...which was essential. Too in love with the silky effect the long exposure gives a body of water to do anything but one! and by doing so, the eye is naturally drawn to the focus point of the image (the mountain range) and not distracted by choppy, harsh, ugly moving water ..well that's what I think anyways haha!

Really glad I stayed at Lake Tekapo long enough to see a sunrise over the mountains. The first few days produced nothing because of the clear skies. This is day three's sunrise. Third time's the charm! :D

Daily Deviation

Given 2011-12-24
The photographer has successfully managed to completely transform a harsh landscape into a peaceful, soft photo, with exceptionally beautiful results. Third Time's The Charm by *twistedclocks ( Suggested by FreyaPhotos and Featured by trevg )
This picture is just beautiful.
I really love how good the long exposure worked out on this picture. The water looks so calm and doesn't distract from the slightly snowed mountainpeaks in the background.
One thing I could critizice is the pictures size. I would have loved to see more in the vertical directions. A panorama would have been great on this scene. But that is just a minor thing.
All in all I really love what the photographer did here, it's a great picture which instantly gave me the impact to get out in the nature as soon as possible!

I really like this photo.
The way the colours were captured make it seem almost like an incredible painting; with the ways they blend throughout sky and water.
The water is also done incredibly well, it's hard to make water look soft and inviting, without distracting the attention from your focus point. The mountains really stand out here, and come into sharp focus, which makes it easier to experience the beauty. It almost feels like you're standing right there, looking at it now, which isn't easy to do, I'll hand you that. All in all I find this picture rather dream-like, and I wouldn't mind dreaming of this place. Well done.
